- Hypothesis: There will a higher percentage of cars with only one plate at Walmart, because the location and popularity of the store is greater than the others.
- Prediction: If we go to all three stores, then Walmart will have a higher percentage of cars with only one plate, this proves that Walmart is more popular than both Target and Meijer.
- Experimental set-up: We are comparing the stores of Walmart, Target, and Meijer. We will be collecting our data on Saturday the 8th around 1:00 p.m. Alex is going to Walmart, I (Destiny) am going to Target, and Paige is going to Meijer, we will be counting the number of cars that have one license plate out of 100.
- Data: Target- 6 out of 100 cars had one plate, Walmart- 8 out of 100 cars had one plate, and Meijer- 7 out of 100 cars had one plate.
- Conclusion: The experiments others could perform will vary based on perhaps the time of the year or day they do the experiment. Whether there will be more or less people or more people from other states or less. Possible sources of error are the times of the day you do the experiment if it is not done at the same time in one day. Variables that may change the outcome are the store hours and whether it is a holiday or very close to being one can change the responding variable in the experiment. The independent variable must be getting the information at the same time on the same day to make things accurate.
